IO Echo Releases Hauntingly Eerie New Video for “Harm”

Darkwave group IO Echo have signed a new record deal with Sargent House and have released a new single and music video for “Harm.” Sargent House is known as the home of Deafheaven, Boris, Chelsea Wolfe, Russian Circles and many more bands in the indie/metal underground. “Harm” was written and co-produced by lead singer Ioanna Gika, bassist/programmer Leopold Ross and acclaimed producer Doc McKinney, known for his work with Drake and The Weeknd.

Gika also helped direct the music video, an eerie blend of close-ups and blurred after-effects that give it a disorienting feeling. Gika stars in the video, moving around from location to location as random shots are quickly spliced between the frames. Musically speaking “Harm” blends elements of darkwave as the song rides an evil distorted guitar riff drenched in echo all while being held together by a slick drum machine beat.  As usual, Gika croons over the track with her icy wail, injecting even more creepiness into the song.

This marks the first new release from IO Echo since 2014’s I’ve Been Vaping Your Tears and sees the group returning from a long hiatus which saw Ross co-composing HBO’s The Defiant Ones and the Brian Wilson biopic, Love And Mercy while Gika has been featured on new tracks by both The Drums and TOKiMONSTA.
