To many other artists who have become popular rapping, it’s more than just a “hobby.” According to a report, Andre 3000 he has his sights set on something else, and rapping may not be in focus anymore.
Rapping is just something fun he likes to do to pass the time. Time doesnt seem to slow down, as he gets older he finds that the stress of figuring out what to rap about and getting a new album out there is too much of a fuss. In a Complex interview, he said,
“I kind of like not being a part of [rap], now that I’ve done it,” he said. “As I get older, I start to see myself move more back from it—the hustle and bustle of putting out an album, the pressure of being in the studio trying to come up with something. Now it’s more like a hobby for me, so I don’t think about it in that way.” André also said that he’s “totally fine with” not doing another OutKast album. “At this stage I’m really more focused on what I am going to be doing 10 years from now. And I hope to God it won’t be rapping.”
Solo work is not going to be a big part of his life, but he mentioned that he works really well when others are collaborating with him to make a one-of-a-kind piece. Andre said,
“When I’m on my own, I’m sitting around twiddling my thumbs, like, ‘Ah, I’ll do it tomorrow.’ It’s different. There’s a kind of certain magic when you work with other people.”
He did collaborations with Frank Ocean and Travis Scott.
Earlier this year in June, MXDWN reported that Outkast and A Tribe Called Quest were in collaboration with Phife Dawg before he passed away. After the death in the group, A Tribe Called Quest told fans that they would soldier on without Phife Dawg. Unfortunately, another untimely injury caused another delay in the release of the collabs.
