Ween @ Stubb’s 11/2 & 11/3

The alternative rock band, Ween, will be coming to town for two nights in a row for fans to see. The band formed in 1984 in New Hope, Pennsylvania. Childhood friends from middle school, Aaron Freeman and Mickey Melchiondo, are the two that started it all. The two had met in a class and realized that they were both into music, so they started to play together. Freeman is known as Gene Ween and Melchiondo is known as Dean Ween. Throughout the many years of being together, Freeman decided to leave the band in 2011, but the two got back together in 2015.

Over the years they have been together, they have released nine albums. La Cucaracha is their latest that was out in 2007. To say Ween is just an alternative rock band is an understatement, they have a mix of rock, funk, soul, jazz, prog and heavy metal. Popular songs like “Ocean Man,” Piss Up a Rope,” and “Push Th’ Little Daises” are older songs by them that fans love. Hopefully since the reunion of the two, they will be creating new music for fans.

Brooke Vega: Born and raised in Texas, Brooke grew up in a small town on the outskirts of Austin. She is a senior at Texas State University majoring in public relations with a minor in photography. Besides school, Brooke spends a lot of time writing about one of her truest loves, music. She writes articles as the Austin Scene Reporter at mxdwn and a music journalist for KTSW 89.9. You can often find her at many shows in Austin. Most of Brooke's music consists of psychedelic, surf rock, beach goth, dream pop and of course, the oldies.
