Angel Olsen performed at the Newport Folk Festival in Rhode Island this weekend, and despite the unforgiving wind that raged on during her set–she and her band killed it. Joining her on stage was surprise guest Jim James of My Morning Jacket, and the duo complimented each other perfectly as they performed her songs “Sister” and “Those Were The Days” from Olsen’s most recent album My Woman, released in 2016.
She even took a pause in between her songs to hug Jim James before he left the stage, and joked “it’s not windy at all,” making light of the not-so-great atmosphere the group had to perform in. Fans, however, truly didn’t seem to mind after watching their incredibly intimate and dreamy performance, cheering for a good minute before she transitioned to the next song. Lucky for us who weren’t there, the songs were caught on video so scroll below to check them out.
For those who are now itching to watch a live performance of the singer, Angel Olsen is set to play Hopscotch Festival alongside Run The Jewels and Big Boi on Sept. 7-10 in Raleigh, NC. Earlier this month, Olsen performed at the Capitol Hill Block Party Festival with other headliners Diplo and Run the Jewels. In March, she released cover of “Who’s Sorry Now,” for The Man In The High Castle soundtrack, which you can listen to here.
