You can say a lot of things about MYRKUR, but laziness or mediocre is not one of them. You can tell anything she creates is intentional and thought-out. The rollout of her new album, Mareridt, has showcased this with her unique dynamic of gorgeous, atmospheric melodies and heavy, downright foreboding instrumentals.

The release of her new video for “Ulvinde,” is no exception. The new video showcases MYRKUR’s fascination and love of nature, tucked away from the “real world,” a world in which she states that she “often feels [she] cannot and was never meant to function in.” The new haunting track is a showcase of her inner and outer demons, which come to life as she sings across some truly incredible Norwegian landscapes.

It’s the classic case of contrast in MYRKUR. Beautiful, angelic passages mixed against some truly nerve-wracking guttural screams. At time she stands solemnly, dress flowing in the wind against lush, moss covered forests or breathtaking fjords, other times, she has blood dripping from her mouth as she crawls sadistically across the ground (think The Ring).

Since the announcement of her new album Marirdt, which is due out this September, MYRKUR has been providing a steady stream of new music for her upcoming release. “Måneblôt” was another prime example of her simultaneously angelic and demonic music. She also gave her English-speaking fans treat last week with her first ever English track “Shadows of Silence,” although that one won’t make it onto the new project.

Check out the new video below and stayed tuned for Marirdt out September.
