Emily Haines & The Soft Skeleton has release a new music video for “Planets”, which will be a part of Choir of the Mind that will be available in September. This also follows the release of the song “Fatal Gift”.
The video was directed by Justin Broadbent . The video shows the artist holding a baseball bat and walking around an empty room. As she’s walking, she drags the baseball bat with her. As the video reaches its midpoint, there are two figures of the artist going in different directions. Throughout the rest of the video one figure disappears as the other one moves in another direction. Soon both come back to the room and the pattern repeats until the end. With the style of the music video, the song has a mix with harmonies and soft piano, while the artist sings the lyrics in a soft tone. The video can be watched below.
In a press release, it was explained that the artist composed the songs in the album “in stolen moments with her piano over the past few years of intensive work with Metric.” Haines had revived the The Soft Skeleton solo project after a decade of inactivity. The last recording through the project was the 2007 EP What Is Free to a Good Home?.
