Mobb Deep Releases New Song Produced by The Alchemist “Try My Hand”

“One last time.” That was a tweet from hip hop producer The Alchemist as he released brand new Mobb Deep track on twitter a couple of days ago. The Infamous Mobb Deep, Havoc & Prodigy, have spent the past 24 years creating hardcore east coast hip hop music that has helped established the two Queensbridge natives as one of the most critically acclaimed groups of the young genre. With classic albums such as “The Infamous,” “Hell on Earth” & “Murda Muzik” it came to no surprise seeing big names such as Puff Daddy, 50 cent, Nas & many more pay homage to the well respected MC Prodigy when he sadly passed away last month on June 20th. According to Spin, the well respected producer who has produced a plethora of tracks for the Queensbridge duo from the late 90’s up until Prodigy’s tragic untimely death, dropped an unreleased Mobb Deep track called “Try My Hand,” in order to pay homage to his good friend & to keep his spirit alive.

The production from Alchemist definitely has an eerie mourning feel to it, as if the listener is walking through the realm of Hades. While Alchemist creates the dark setting, both Queens’ hometown heroes play the roles of titans of the underworld who create prophetic lines of street poetry that warns anyone who is eager to try them. Havoc starts off “Try My Hand” letting listeners know that he is who they’re looking for with lines like “I’m the needle in the haystack, stop looking,” while the late & great MC Prodigy crushes the thought of anyone who believes they can compare to the Mobb with lines like “You just a crumb on my plate, blown away if I breathe too hard/You like a comment on IG, nobody cares/Crawl back under the rock the giants are here.” Listen to “Try My Hand” below.
