The California Honeydrops @ Bowery Ballroom 10/11 + 10/12

If The California Honeydrops are known for something more than their music, it’s their energy. And these guys are full of it. But when you play music that blends together genres of bluegrass, funk, rock and soul, and you drench it with fun and positivity, that’s when good things happen. And for this eclectic group of musicians, life is lookin’ good. And it’s all about creating an atmosphere that’s jovial and enlightening, to make their fans feel like they really are part of something. Don’t you want to be part of it, too? Take your pick, as this Oakland outfit comes to New York and plays twice.

Their debut album was released back in 2008 called Soul Tub! and since then they’ve been shakin’ and groovin’ their way across stages and through albums, making sure to keep that energy bursting. Whether it’s a local show or a bigtime festival, The California Honeydrops find a way to make it crazy and personalized. They want to connect with their fans and create memories, and with songs like “When It Was Wrong” and “Like This, Like That” it isn’t hard to get everyone singing and dancing and drinking and stompin’ around, not ever wanting the show to end.

The lead singer of this group is from Poland, so they’ve taken their New Orleans-y sound over to Europe (a couple of times now) and back again. Now they are back on the road, taking the party everywhere.
