This past Sunday July 17, Dale Crover has released a video for his track “Bad Move,” influenced by rock legend Paul McCartney, as the visual was inspired by his 1980s video for “Coming up.” The piece was directed by Adam Hardig, known for working with artists such as Warpaint and Best Coast.
The video itself features a colorful backdrop and visuals that appear to be pulled right out of the 80’s. “We had a lot of fun making the video,” said Crover. It’s a parody of a Paul McCartney video where he plays all the characters. It was shot on VHS, which makes it look very dirty and from a different era.” Check it out for yourself below.
Crover plays multiple roles in the clip, just as McCartney was featured in his version decades prior. Qui’s Matt Cronk, Altamont’s Dan Southwick, as the Birthday Party’s Tracy Pew, and longtime Melvins’ recording partner Toshi Kasai make guest appearances in the video as well to fill out the rest of the band.
The rest of 2017 will stay busy for Dale Crover as he has tour dates across North America with the Melvins, and a recently announced double-header tour with Redd Kross and the Melvins that will be jumping over the pond to Europe and Australia.
Crover has his anticipated solo album slated to be released in August, The Fickle Finger of Fate, so this video will be sure to drum up some hype behind the well seasoned rocker. He most recently performed in Oakland, CA with Red Kross at Burger Boogaloo Festival earlier this month, the dirtiest festival the Bay Area has to offer.
