Ministry and Death Grips Announces Fall 2017 Tour Dates

Veteran group Ministry and the newer Death Grips announced plans today for a joint tour in the Fall of 2017. These are two groups from different eras, even of different genres, but they are kindred in the style with which they approach their art form. Death Grips, who one could call dabblers in ‘experimental hip hop,’ draw influence from rap, punk, electronic, and industrial. They are very cool. Ministry, who, as a sort of new wave synthpop group, underwent a genre surgery from which they emerged as a metal band. They too, are very cool. Ministry broke up in 2008 and made it clear to fans that they would never reunite. However, these genre-switchers know better than anyone that things change.

Death Grips, originally hailing from Sacramento, CA, formed in 2010. The group’s first mixtape, Exmilitary, and their first studio album, The Money Store, both achieved widespread critical acclaim, giving them immediate cultural significance. A year later, in 2012, Death Grips leaked their second album, No Love Deep Web, for free download, and were dropped from their label, Epic Records. Since, they have disbanded and reunited, to the dismay and rejoice of their followers.

Ministry is due to release their newest album, AmeriKKKant, in the Fall of this year.

BrooklynVegan.com will host a presale event for the whole tour on Wednesday, July 19th, starting at 10 a.m. EST.

Conrad Brittenham: My name is Conrad. I am one year out of college and pursuing a career in writing and journalism. I studied literature at Bard College, in the Hudson Valley. My thesis focuses on the literal and figurative uses of disease in Herman Melville’s most famous works, including Moby-Dick, Benito Cereno, and Billy Budd. My literary research on the topic of disease carried over to more historical findings about how humans tend to deal with and think about the problem of virus and infectivity. I’ve worked at a newspaper and an ad agency, as well as for the past year at an after school program, called The Brooklyn Robot Foundry. All of these positions have influenced the way I approach my work, my writing, and the way I interact with others in a professional setting. I’ve lived in London and New York, and have always had a unique perspective on international cultural matters. I am an avid drawer and a guitarist, but I would like to eventually work for a major news publication as an investigative journalist.
