Rozwell Kid @ Baby’s All Right 8/4

Rozwell Kid have come a long way since West Virginia. Now they’re sharing the stage with major bands like The Menzingers, The Hotelier, and PUP, but now they are ransacking the stage on their own headlining tour.

Critics have compared their sound to a modern-day Weezer–playing songs that are catchy and kinda humorous–but when you give this band a solid listen you’ll come to discover that their music is actually quite original and quite good. But for this quartet of dudes, such comparisons don’t really mean much. They just want to play their music that’s full of hooks and energy, and also keep alive a solid old-fashioned punk-rock aesthetic. And so they play on, shredding like nothing else matters.

Rozwell Kid’s latest album was released just this year called Precious Art on SideOneDummy Records. It’s an album that explores nostalgia for the band, and also identity, but in that hyped-up, punkish-rock kind of way–keeping the fun, keeping the cool, keeping the punk alive and buzzing. This record for sure is an anthem for summer–prime time for when they play in Brooklyn on August 4th.
