With the arrival of American punk rock band The Spits, music wasn’t ready for the unique sound they would bring. Hailing from Kalamazoo, Michigan, The Spits relocated to Seattle where they spent the better part of their careers. Since then, The Spits have released at least five studio albums along with multiple singles. Even though the first four albums were self-titled, fans to this day called them 1,2,3,4. The previous albums were released by Nickel and Dime Records, Slovenly Records, and Thriftstore Records. The Spits last album was released in October 2011 titled V under In The Red Records. The band has been known for their outlandish appearances while performing live.
After forming in 2000, The Spits released a 4-track 7” Split under Dirtnap Records towards the end of the year. Soon after, The Spits played same gigs around town in order to promote their music. The same year, The Spits officially released their debut album, featuring the hit single, “Tired and Lonely”. The album was well received as the band continued to gain fame. At the end of the year, The Spits released their second album, The Spits CD. It would be three long years before fans would see another The Spit album. In 2003, The Spits released their third studio album.
In 2006, The Spits went on their first European Tour. During the tour, the band released a live album featuring all the songs performed on stage including hits like “What The Fuck”, “Saturday Nite”, and “Witch Hunt”. Under Thriftstore Records, The Spits released their LP titled Returning to Their Hometown. The LP had a different vibe than previous others. 2011 was the last time The Spits released an album.
