Alternative rock band Mutemath recently released a new single, “Hit Parade” from their upcoming new album, Play Dead. Known for their use of various instruments, Mutemath is heavily influenced by 1990s soul and rock. The band consists of lead vocalist Paul Meany, drummer Darren King, guitarist Todd Gummerman, and bassist Roy Mitchell-Cardenas. Since 2002, Mutemath has been releasing songs with multiple chart topping hits.
Mutemath formed in 2002 in Louisana, New Orleans with Paul Meany and Darren King. The two added members the following year which they continued to work out of New Orleans. Mutemath formed their own records label, Teleprompt Records, under the management of Kevin Kookogey. Mutemath released their debut EP Resist in the following months. The band joined with Mae and Circa Survive as the opening act on their The Music is Much Too Loud Tour in 2005. By then, the band had gained a nice fan base. Mutemath went on tour in early 2016 in support of their debut album. After the release of the album, Mutemath continued to appear at various festivals during the year including Lollapoolza, Van’s Warped Tour, Bonnaroo, and V Festival. The album peaked at number 17 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart. The band continued to open for bands on their tours to gain attention.
Mutemath continued to find success after radio stations started playing their hit single, “Typical” from their upcoming album. Over the years, Mutemath continues to release music and tour in support of it. This year, Mutemath announced dates for their upcoming tour. Mutemath started to tease fans with previews of new songs they were working throughout the summer. It was announced the tour would have dates in the UK, Europe, and the US.
