The funky vintage quartet, Chicano Batman, are making their way into town at the end of October. The group first started out in 2008 by front man Bardo Martinez and bassist Eduardo Arenas. The two started making their 70s psychedelic soul/tropical funk tunes before adding guitarist Carlos Arévalo and drummer Gabriel Villa to complete the group. The band is based out of Los Angeles, California.
Chicano Batman has released three albums and two EPs. Freedom Is Free is their latest album that was out this past March. The band has a distinct sound for sure and usually perform in matching suits and ruffle tops, which adds to their style even more. With the mix of sounds from an old record, the use of a vintage keyboard and Martinez’s romantic voice with Latino lyrics thrown in, they really made a name for themselves.
