The Kills @ Brooklyn Steel 7/21

If there was one thing that The Kills always set out to do, it was to have each of their records sound totally different than the last. What’s the point in repeating when you keep things fresh and cool and exciting? And so Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince start new with each album they create, determined to embrace their creativity and unparalleled connection, and write songs that are passionate, forceful and of course badass and sexy.

Their first album was released back in 2003 called Keep on Your Mean Side, and just last year the band released their fifth full-length album on Domino Records called Ash & Ice. The duo met back in London and have since then toured all over the world (while remaining one of the top bands in the UK, including a spot on their Top 20 Album list with their latest record).

The Kills will release a new upcoming EP called Echo Home – Non-Electric which will feature songs recorded at the famous Electric Lady Studios here in the city, as well as an acoustic cover of Rihanna’s “Desperado.” This year also marks the 15th anniversary of the band’s EP called Black Rooster, which features one of their most beautiful hit songs, “Wait.”
