Tori Amos Announces Fall 2017 Tour Dates

The celebrated singer-songwriter Tori Amos chose Facebook Live as the platform to announce the dates for her upcoming North American 2017 tour. The tour, beginning on October 24th, will launch out of St. Paul, Minnesota, and touch on most of America’s largest cities. The tour will end with three day stint at the Theatre at Ace Hotel in Los Angeles, and she will pass through New York, Chicago, Washington DC, Boston, Philadelphia, and many other cities on her way. The North American tour is just a portion of a larger world tour, as Amos will embark on a trip through Europe in September. All of these concerts are coordinated in support of her highly anticipated new album, Native Invader, that is set for release on September 8th by Decca Records.

Keeping with the tech-savvy original announcement of her tour on Facebook Live, Amos will employ a fan-first technology developed by Ticketmaster to give her fans optimal access to tickets. Using the pre-sale method, Amos will bypass the possibility of bots or scalpers buying up mass amounts of tickets. Instead, fans will have access to tickets before they are officially available.

There is no question that Amos is one of the most important contemporary artists in the world. Native Invader will be Amos’ fifteenth studio album, amounting to a discography that is as impressive in quality as in quantity. Her previous album, Unrepentant Geraldines, released in 2014, was her eighth work to reach Billboard Top 10 status. Native Invader will be available in all imaginable formats from vinyl to digital. The CD itself will have multiple incarnations. The standard release will of course just feature the album, and the deluxe package includes two extra songs and a hardcover book.

Amos released a statement about the new album.

“The songs on ‘Native Invader’ are being pushed by the Muses to find different ways of facing unforeseen challenges and in some cases dangerous conflicts. The record looks to Nature and how, through resilience, she heals herself. The songs also wrestle with the question: what is our part in the destruction of our land, as well as ourselves, and in our relationships with each other?

In life there can be the shock of unexpected fires, floods, earthquakes, or any cataclysmic ravager – both on the inside and outside of our minds. Sonically and visually, I wanted to look at how Nature creates with her opposing forces, becoming the ultimate regenerator through her cycles of death and re-birth. Time and time again she is able to renew, can we find this renewal for ourselves?”

Amos has been nominated for multiple Grammy Awards, has produced visually innovative music videos, and has even had her works translated into graphic novels. She is the first artist of a major label to have released a single for digital download, and has written music for a Netflix original documentary, “Audrie and Daisy.” Amos is also the co-founder of RAINN, the Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network, which is the largest anti-sexual assault organization in the United States.

Conrad Brittenham: My name is Conrad. I am one year out of college and pursuing a career in writing and journalism. I studied literature at Bard College, in the Hudson Valley. My thesis focuses on the literal and figurative uses of disease in Herman Melville’s most famous works, including Moby-Dick, Benito Cereno, and Billy Budd. My literary research on the topic of disease carried over to more historical findings about how humans tend to deal with and think about the problem of virus and infectivity. I’ve worked at a newspaper and an ad agency, as well as for the past year at an after school program, called The Brooklyn Robot Foundry. All of these positions have influenced the way I approach my work, my writing, and the way I interact with others in a professional setting. I’ve lived in London and New York, and have always had a unique perspective on international cultural matters. I am an avid drawer and a guitarist, but I would like to eventually work for a major news publication as an investigative journalist.
