According to NPR, Brittany Howard, the singer/guitarist of Alabama Shakes, has formed a new band called Bermuda Triangle with singer/songwriters Becca Mancari and Jesse Lafser. The announcement came as a cryptic post on social media on Monday, showing Howard, Mancari, and Lafser seated at a table, with the caption reading “NEW BAND ALERT: BERMUDA TRIANGLE.” Not much else is currently known about the new group, with all three members giving cryptic responses to journalists since the announcement.
What is known is that the new band will be making their live debut on July 12th in Nashville at the Basement East, which is currently their only scheduled performance. Howard has said that the group will perform unreleased material from all three singer’s back catalogue, and that there are no plans to enter a recording studio any time soon.
Mancari and Lafser have been making names for themselves in the Nashville music scene for quite a while, making the formation of Bermuda Triangle something of a supergroup. Musically speaking Mancari has said that listeners should expect “drum machines, heavy harmonies and someone on a standup bass.”
Alabama Shakes, are gearing up to hit the road in the coming weeks, including a performance at the Sloss Music & Arts Festival on July 17th.
