Chicago’s own electronic duo Krewella will tour this fall in support of the release of their latest extended play: New World Part 1. The New World Tour kicks off early September in Dallas and will take the girls across the US before wrapping up in Detroit mid-November.
The group achieved critical acclaim with the release of their debut album Get Wet in May 2013. The album spawned hit singles “Alive” (the group’s first top 40 hit) and “Live for the Night” which was produced and co-written by Cash Cash. The song reached the number one spot on the Billboard Dance Club Songs Chart. The dance/pop/rock music duo consisting of sisters Jahan Yousaf and Yasmine Yousaf hail from the Chicago suburb of Northbrook. The girls have gained more and more popularity over the years each time they release new music. They didn’t let the departure of third member Kristopher Tindl in 2014 get them down. Quite the opposite as the new twosome continued to crank out dance hits.
The duo announced that they were taking their music in a new direction for their latest extended play; New World Part 1 EP released June 8th. The release date is symbolic to the sisters as it marks the date which they dedicated their entire selves to their music seven years ago. Immensely hard work went into making each of the seven tracks which are laden with baseline fueled beats, catchy lyrics and raw instruments. Lead singles “Team”, “Be There” and “Love Outta Me” are all positive songs about overcoming negativity. It’s still EDM, it’s still dance, but it’s more than the bland music I’ve heard in the past year.
