Neurosis @ Union Transfer 8/07

Not many can nail the post-metal and hardcore punk look but Neurosis is no ordinary band. Based out of Oakland, Neurosis has continued to evolve their unique sound with from punk to post metal. Since their start in 1985, Neurosis has released 12 studio albums. The band released their latest album titled, Fires Within Fires in 2016. The album peaked at number 63 on Swedish Albums Chart.

Founding members Scott Kelly, Dave Edwardson, and Jason Roeder came together as a band in 1985. The band released their debut LP, Pain of Mind in 1987. The following years, Neurosis released two other LPs, The Word is Law and Souls at Zero. Success started to follow Neurosis with the release of Through Sliver in Blood in 1996. Neurosis continued to change their style of sound with the release of A Sun That Never Sets. The album used clean unique vocals compared to their previous albums. The Eye of Every Storm continued to expand the band’s skills.

The band released their ninth album, Given to the Rising, through their independent record label Neurot Records. Neurosis announced in 2011, the band would be releasing new music after a 2-year hiatus. In 2012, Neurosis released their album, Honor Found in Decay. The album received huge praise from Pitchfork, Spin, and The Guardian. Last year, Neurosis re-released their A Sun That Never Sets and The Eye of Every Storm on vinyl. Their eleventh studio album, Fires Within Fires, on September 23, 2016.

Donovan Wilkins: Donovan Wilkins is a self-taught photographer and published writer. He lives in Glenside after moving from his hometown of Philadelphia. After studying Liberal Arts at CCP, he decided to focus his time on his writing and photography. In 2016, Donovan completed his first feature-length screenplay, The Coast is Clear. During his career, Donovan worked on a small budget film in Philadelphia as part of a writing team. Since then, he has written various short screenplays.
