New Found Glory @ The Catalyst 11/24

Second wave pop-punk band, New Found Glory, is heading into the bay this winter. The band will be hitting up The Catalyst in Santa Cruz on November 24th; the best way to end your long weekend with the Thanksgiving holiday. This is one of the many stops on their world tour which spans from July to December.

Founded in 1997, New Found Glory is credited as one of the pioneers of second wave pop-punk. The four piece hails from Florida and has been a cult favorite of the genre since their inception. Recently, the band released their ninth studio album Makes Me Sick in April of this year. That album is known for the songs Happy Being Miserable, Party on Apocalypse, and The Sound of Two Voices. This album is known for a softer, more mature sound that will definitely be appreciated by their fans. Previous to that the band has released eight other studio albums, two video albums, and 2 tribute albums. The biggest songs the band has released include their 2000 breakthrough songs Head on Collision, My Friends Over You, All Downhill From Here, Kiss Me, Hit or Miss, It’s Not Your Fault, Hold My Hand, Dressed to Kill, and King of Wishful Thinking. New Found Glory is from the, ahem, glory age of pop-punk. Alongside blink-182 and Green Day, New Found Glory helped push pop-punk into the mainstream and kickoff a new era of the ever popular Vans Warped Tour. They are known for the distinctive style of vocalist Jordan Pundik’s melodic voice, their upbeat and fast style, and their reliance on gang vocals; all techniques which are standard within this genre to this day.

Fans of Yellowcard (RIP), The Wonder Years, or MxPx will be down for this show. Anyone who spend their summer counting down the days until Warped Tour will be hype to this this band kill it on stage. New Found Glory is a fun, upbeat, and sincere band, they keep it real with their music and during their sets. I promise this show won’t be a Hit or Miss, so grab a ticket and have some fun.
