One of the few rock bands that still manage to shape mainstream culture, the Foo Fighters have been slowly gearing up for the release of their new album, Concrete and Gold. Last week, they put out their first single, “Run,” but they aren’t quite done teasing the new album just yet.
At a show in Riga, Latvia on the Lucavsala stage during a European tour, the band dropped off a portion of a new song for fans. The teaser/encore, called “Sunday Rain,” helped close out the band’s set and was the first time it was played in front of anyone. After an explosive opener, the Foo Fighters mellow a bit to lock in a nice little groove, as drummer Taylor Hawkins takes over vocal duties. There’s a nice bluesy, sultry vibe to the new track, with plenty of Pink Floyd and Eagles vibes going around.
The new tracks are a sight for fans’ sore eyes, as the several feared the band would split with Grohl taking on a solo career, however the band has been out in full force, performing next to a who’s-who list of musicians at every big festival this year. The band has also put on their political hat after announcing their part in the “7-inches for Planned Parenthood” series.
