Admittedly, I didn’t think I was familiar with Astrid S or her music before I saw that she was coming to Chicago. But after doing some research, I realized she’s provided backup vocals for a lot of my favorite songs, incuding The Vamps’ “All Night” which I play on repeat daily. She is also responsible for summer 2016’s hit single “Hurt So Good” which was co-written by another rising star, Julia Michaels.
Astrid Smeplass – known by her stage name Astrid S – is a Norwegian singer and songwriter who is fairly new to the music industry but is already making a name for herself. The pop artist got her start after she placed fifth on Norwegian Pop Idol in 2013. Since then, she has released a self-titled EP, provided backup vocals on numerous songs, and has collaborated with many other artists including Shawn Mendes and Avicii. She also toured with Troye Sivan during his European tour in 2016. Her second EP, Party’s Over, is expected to drop June 30th.
