British pop-rock band The Kooks are flying across the pond and hitting up the city this fall. The band will be performing at the Warfield Theatre on October 16th. This is one of many stops for the band as the are embarking on a world tour to promote their recent studio release.
The Brighton based group started out back in 2004 and have been riding success ever since. The band’s first studio album was released in 2006 and they broke into the mainstream both in North America and the U.K at the same time. Their most recent release was this year with their first compilation album titled The Best of… So Far. This album is full of the band’s biggest hits to date, such as Be Who You Are, Broken Vow, Naive, Bad Habit, and She Moves In Her Own Way. Previous to that the band’s latest material comes off their 2014 release titled Listen, which is known for the songs Sweet Emotion, Around Town, Forgive & Forget, and the aforementioned Bad Habit. Other well known songs the band has released include Seaside, Junk of the Heart, Ooh La, Always Where I Need to Be, and How’d You Like That. The Kook’s musical style isn’t confined to their genre, their music is influenced by a variety of talent, almost as if they are working through the decades per every album. Their album Inside In/Outside Out has 60s British pop inspiration where their following sophomore album Konk is heavily influenced by music of the 80s. This band has real skill to show audiences variety and the growth of their sound.
Fans of The Arctic Monkeys, The Fratellis, or The Wombats will be down for this british sensation. The Kooks are the perfect band to end your year with. So, pick up some tickets and make your way down to Market Street to catch a good time.
