August Alsina @ The Fillmore 8/10

Singer-songwriter August Alsina has been out of the spotlight for a while. August is known for the 2015 hit single, “I Luv This Shit” featuring fellow rapper Trinidad James. August Alsina’s music has been considered as alternative R&B, drawing comparisons to Usher and Erykah Badu. In 2014, August Alsina released his debut album Testimony via Def Jam Records. The singer-songwriter is playing at The Fillmore this year.

August Alsina blew up after releasing a cover video of “Hypothetically” by Lyfe Jennings on YouTube. August Alsina released his debut mixtape, The Product in April 2012. The mixtape was well received in the rap community, earning praise from various media outlets.  August Alsina gained worldwide fame after his hit single, “I Luv This Shit” went viral. The single peaked at number 51 on Billboard Hot 100 and number 15 on US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts. August Alsina dropped his second mixtape, The Product 2 in May 2013. August Alsina’s only hit single, “I Luv This Shit” was certified platinum on October 2, 2014, selling over 1,000,000 units.

August Alsina released an EP titled Downtown: Life Under The Gun on August 20, 2013. Towards the end of the year, the single “Ghetto” featuring Rich Homie Quan was the most requested song for a week in December. In January 2014, August Alsina released the lead single, “Make It Home” from his debut album. After the release of his debut album, Testimony, August was named to 2014 XXL Freshman Class. In 2015, Agust Alsina released his second studio album, This Thing Called Life. The album peaked at number 14 on Billboard 200.

Donovan Wilkins: Donovan Wilkins is a self-taught photographer and published writer. He lives in Glenside after moving from his hometown of Philadelphia. After studying Liberal Arts at CCP, he decided to focus his time on his writing and photography. In 2016, Donovan completed his first feature-length screenplay, The Coast is Clear. During his career, Donovan worked on a small budget film in Philadelphia as part of a writing team. Since then, he has written various short screenplays.
