In an absolutely fantastic bit of comedy following yesterday’s teaser video, Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme starred in short film/teaser for their upcoming seventh record, dubbed Villains. Villains would be a follow up to their 2013 record …Like Clockwork. Villians will be out August 25, 2017 on Matador Records.

The announcement came in the form of a goofy video titled “Queens of the Stone Age Face the Truth,” where Homme takes a polygraph test (i.e. lie detector test) administered by Liam “Whatever” Lynch. Lynch asks Homme “Is the new Queens of the Stone Age album entitled Villains?” and Homme responds with a cold “Nope.” But the polygraph clearly indicates that Homme is “lying.”

Lynch continues with “Is it true that the new album Villains was produced by none other than Mark Ronson?” to which Homme asks “Who?”

“Mark Ronson, he produced Adele, Amy Winehouse, Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga, Duran Duran, Christina Aguilera, Lil’ Wayne, Q-Tip…” lists Lynch. “He’as also a well-known DJ and he’s standing right there.” The camera pans to reveal the successful producer, DJing in the corner of the room.

Ronson, of “Uptown Funk” fame, had previously worked with Homme on Lady Gaga’s single “Perfect Illusion.”

The clip goes on to reveal a snippet of the track “Feet Don’t Fail Me” from the new record, an incredibly bouncy hard rock tune with Homme’s signature groove.

“Honestly, the best album ever,” Homme claims, to which Lynch says “That’s true, actually.”

Though not much else is known about the record, it will be coming out later this summer.
