Ginuwine @ Theatre of Living Arts 8/11

Ginuwine was one of the world’s best R&B singers in the early 90s until the early 2000s. Ginuwine has been signed to Epic Records since 1991 where he released more than 7 studio albums in his career. Ginuwine’s debut album, Ginuwine…The Bachelor has made over 1,000,000 sales since its release in 1996. During the height of his career, Ginuwine has had multi-platinum selling albums. Ginuwine is back in concert at Theatre of Living Arts this summer.

Ginuwine was born in Washington D.C. in 1970. After graduating from Forestville High School in 1989, Ginuwine studied paralegal at Prince George’s Community College in Maryland. The R&B singer got his start as a member of the highly successful 90s R&B group, Jodeci. The group included JoJo, K-Ci, Mr. Dalvin and DeVante Swing. While in the group, Ginuwine came into contact with female rapper Missy Elliot and producer Timbaland. The 3 would continue to collaborate with each other over time. After releasing his debut album, Ginuwine shot to fame. The first single off the album, “Pony”, became Ginuwine’s most popular song ever in his career. The song peaked at number 6 on Billboard Hot 100 while also being used in various films. Success followed Ginuwine on to his second album, 100% Ginuwine. The singer had another hit single in “Differences”, which peaked at number one on Billboard Hot Hip-Hop/R&B Songs chart. His third and fourth album (The Life, The Senior) featured fellow artists like P.Diddy and Jose Cenquentez.

Aside from a successful career in music, Ginuwine has also appeared in a few films like Juwanna Mann, Honey and tv shows like Moesha. Ginuwine also appeared on the NBC series Parks and Recreation as himself. Ginuwine also had been credited with appearing various film soundtracks. Ginuwine changed the game of R&B forever with his smooth voice and catchy beats.

Donovan Wilkins: Donovan Wilkins is a self-taught photographer and published writer. He lives in Glenside after moving from his hometown of Philadelphia. After studying Liberal Arts at CCP, he decided to focus his time on his writing and photography. In 2016, Donovan completed his first feature-length screenplay, The Coast is Clear. During his career, Donovan worked on a small budget film in Philadelphia as part of a writing team. Since then, he has written various short screenplays.
