Ride recently released “Lannoy Point”, which will be a part of their new album Weather Diaries that will be the be first album in 20 years.
According to SPIN, Ride’s Mark Gardner told NME that the the song is a meditation on political turmoil saying “Lyrically ‘Lannoy Point’ is my reflection on what the fuck is going on with all this backward ‘Little Britain’ depressing, blind faith, Brexit times we find ourselves in. As I muse on in the chorus, I hope that ‘A better sense can start again’ to find our way out of this mess!”
Steve Queralt adds that “Lannoy Point’ is the result of going synth shopping in the States. I found an old Poly 61 exactly the same the as one I had when I was very young and the backing track is sound of my bank account emptying as I shipped it back to London.”
The song starts out with a repetitive solo guitar that brings out a sad tune but after the minute mark, the drum brings a more upbeat style. The singer, with the support of backup vocals, talks about the situation with Britain and the reaction of it with no change in vocals as the instruments continues. The song can be heard below.
