Even if you don’t listen to country everyone knows who Carrie Underwood is. Country singer-songwriter Carrie Underwood is known as the winner of season 4 on the highly popular show American Idol. After her time on the show, Carrie Underwood rose to fame unlike any other. A few years later, Carrie Underwood is one of the most successful country singers the world has ever known. Since her career began, Carrie Underwood has released five studio albums and a greatest hits collection, earning a total of 170 worldwide awards. In 2007, Carrie Underwood won a Grammy for Best New Artist, making her only the second country artist to win the award.

Carrie Underwood grew up in Checotah, Oklahoma singing in her local church. In 2004, Carrie auditioned for American Idol. After performing a cover of Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love”, Carrie was well on her way to the big show. Carrie Underwood’s singing gained her a huge fan base during the show. On May 25, 2005, Carrie Underwood became the season 4 winner. Her music career began when she released her debut single, “Inside Your Heaven” in 2005. The single debuted at number 1 on the Billboard chart. The hit single broke all kinds of Billboard chart records. Carrie’s debut album, Some Hearts, earned Album of the Year at Country Music Awards in 2007 and Country Album of the Year at Billboards Music Awards in 2006.

Carrie Underwood’s early success made her a household name. Carrie’s next few albums went to break music and country records all over. Carrie has been named as one of the most successful musical artists of the last decade. Carrie Underwood went on to headline world tours and festivals, selling out shows where ever she went. Some of her achievements include being inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame, Grand Ole Opry, and earning a place in the Guinness Book of World Records as being a female country artist with the most number-one hits. Carrie Underwood will go down as a legend in country music and music overall.

Donovan Wilkins: Donovan Wilkins is a self-taught photographer and published writer. He lives in Glenside after moving from his hometown of Philadelphia. After studying Liberal Arts at CCP, he decided to focus his time on his writing and photography. In 2016, Donovan completed his first feature-length screenplay, The Coast is Clear. During his career, Donovan worked on a small budget film in Philadelphia as part of a writing team. Since then, he has written various short screenplays.
