Remember Pretty Lights? The ultimate go-to concert in 2010? Well he’s still at it and will perform at Chicago’s Huntington Bank Pavilion on August 18 and 19th.
Pretty Lights started as a music project consisting of Derek Smith and childhood friend Michal Menert – who has since left the group. The electronic based music relies heavily on digital samples and tends to lean towards a more hip-hop/soul sound. The duo went on to perform with big names like STS9. Pretty Lights was a major fixture on the festival circuit in 2009-2010 when they performed at Coachella, Bonnaroo, Electric Daisy Carnival, Camp Bisco and Chicago’s North Coast Music Festival.
The electronic music producer Smith hasn’t released a new album in four years. His anticipated fourth album was expected to drop in April but we have yet to hear it. Pretty Lights is scheduled to perform at festivals like Summer Camp and Camp Bisco this summer so hopefully the album will drop before his stop at Northerly Island!
