Indie rock band The War On Drugs have just announced that they will be releasing their fourth full-length studio album A Deeper Understanding, which is scheduled to hit the shelves August 25th on Atlantic Records. This will be their follow-up to their 2014 critically acclaimed Lost In The Dream, and will be the first album they have recorded on Atlantic Records.
Adam Granduciel, the band’s frontman, led the charge on this newest work, locking the six of the band members up in their New York and Los Angeles studios in order to write, record, edit, and tinker, but most importantly to work. He joined forces with engineer Shawn Everett of Alabama Shakes and Weezer, challenging the notion of what it takes to create a fully realized piece of music in this day and age. With his bandmates, Dave Hartley on bass, Robbie Bennet on keys, drummer Charlie Hall, and multi-instrumentalists Anthony LaMarca and Jon Natchez, they continuously worked in order to collaborate, and coordinate with confidence a real “band record” in its most noble sense. Through tireless efforts, revisiting, reediting, re-imagining, day in and day out the group successfully pushed themselves to greater heights in order to produce another strong piece of work.
Most recently releasing the single “Holding On” off the new album.
The band will be hitting the road for several months after the summer for a tour to support the upcoming new album.
