Rock band Against Me! will be performing in the City this summer! The band will be hitting up the Regency Ballroom on September 12th. This will be one of the band’s stops on their North American Tour for 2017. They will be opened by Bleached and Dirty Nill.
Against Me! started out back in 1997, which by my count was 20 years ago. This band has been rocking hard and gifting us badass music for a solid 20 years. Amazing. Fronted by Laura Jane Grace, the band has been making waves. The band released their newest and seventh studio album Shape Shift with Me in 2016. That album is known for the songs 333, Crash, Boyfriend, Haunting, Haunted, Haunt, and Rebecca. Previous to that the band has produced six other studio albums, two live albums, and four EPs. Other huge songs the band is known for are Thrash Unreal, Stop!, The Ocean, Baby, I’d an Anarchist!, I Was a Teenage Anarchist, Transgender Dysphoria Blues, True Trans Soul Rebel, Black Me Out, Fuckmylife666. My personal favorites are Black Me Out and Stop! The first, Black Me Out, and the entire 2015 album Transgender Dysphoria Blues marked a transition period and a rebirth for the band as their lead singer came out as a trans woman. That song is such a kickass song, it’s hard, heavy, and angry. It’s perfect. Where in comparison, Stop!, reminds me of being a kid and thinking how freakin cool is this band? the first time I heard Against Me! on the radio. This band, to me and their fanbase, is revolutionary. They are badass. Grace’s vocals and lyrics are heavy, raw, and poetic in a way that is uncommon for normal music. Against Me!, in my biased opinion, is one of the best rock bands out there.
Fans of The Bouncing Souls, The Menzingers, and Anti-Flag will love this band. This is a performance that will be etched in your brain and your musical heart. Not only will it be a fantastic show, but it will be engaging and fun. So, grab a ticket and kiss your rent money goodbye because you’re gonna wanna grab a ticket while you can!
