American rapper Lil Yachty, also known as Lil Boat, has had an amazing breakout year. Even though the rapper has been in the music scene since 2015, Lil Yachty has sure made his mark as one of the best up and coming rappers of the new generation. Lil Yachty first rose to stardom after his hit single, “One Night” from his 2015 mixtape Summer Songs. The rapper released his debut album Teenage Emotions on May 26, 2017.
Born Miles Parks McCollum, Lil Yachty moved from his hometown of Mableton, Georgia to New York to pursue his career in music. Lil Yachty made connections in New York while building up his following Instagram. After making his debut as a model in Kanye West’s fashion show, Lil Yachty released his debut mixtape Lil Boat in March 2017. Lil Yachty gained worldwide attention after collaborating with fellow rapper D.R.A.M on their hit song, “Broccoli”. The single peaked at number 5 on Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard 200. The same year, Lil Yachty was featured on the highly popular album Coloring Book by Grammy award winning rapper Chance The Rapper. In June 2016, Lil Yachty signed with Motown Records and Captial Records as a joint deal. In the summer of 2016, Lil Yachty released his second mixtape Summer Songs 2.
Lil Yachty made appearances in various hit singles over the summer including, “iSpy” by Kyle and “From the D to the A” with Tee Grizzly. The following year, Lil Yachty debuted his first studio album Teenage Emotions. The highly anticipated album featured Migos, Diplo, YG, and much more. Lil Yachty’s unique sound has sampled various sounds from different tv shows and objects. Lil Yachty recently announced his US tour promoting his new album.
