Young adult favorite hipster clothing store Urban Outfitters had earned a lot of bad press two years ago, when it had accidentally started selling Halsey’s debut record Badlands early. The store mistakenly shipped a bunch of copies out weeks in advance and then mistakenly sold more copies in stores three days before its release date.
Justifiably, Halsey was not happy at all, angrily tweeting “What kind of company are you?” at the retailer. Apparently, two years later, she had gotten over it, because she decided to sell a limited edition version of her next album, Hopeless Fountain Kingdom, exclusively at Urban Outfitters.
Keeping up its streak of issues with Halsey, the retailer apparently laid out the exclusive vinyl on the store floor early, instead of this Friday.
Needless to say, many of her fans were horrified at the company for messing up twice in a row with the same artist.
Thankfully, however, apparently Urban Outfitters only nearly sold Halsey’s record, being able to pull them from the store before any copies were actually bought by fans. Though the store was saved at the last moment (despite Tweets to the contrary), it will have a lot of explaining to do to angry fans about why the records were out there in the first place.
