The Melvins are a doom-metal rock band from Montesano, Washington. The band formed in 1983 by three members that all went to junior high and high school together in Montesano. The Melvins had first started covering songs by Hendrix and Cream before making their own tunes. The founding members were Buzz Osbourne, Matt Lukin and Mike Dillard that was replaced by Dale Crover when he left. Throughout the years, there have been different members in and out of the band. Currently, the group is still going strong with two of the first members, Osbourne and Crover, as well as a rotating line-up on tour.
Over the course of 34 years, the Melvins have released over 25 albums as well as many EPs, live albums and compilation albums. Two of the Melvins’ recent albums are Three Men and a Baby and Basses Loaded that were both released in 2016. Interesting enough, Three Men and a Baby was finally finished 17 years later after it was started in 1999. The Melvins have an upcoming album, A Walk with Love and Death, that will be out on July 7th via Ipecac Records.
