One of the most up and coming singers in the R&B music scene is Khalid. If you don’t know his name, you will know his music. Khalid’s hit single, “Location” has been stream over a billion times on various music platforms. You can’t turn on the radio without hearing the catchy R&B single. The single peaked at number 16 on Billboard Hot 100 and number 8 on Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop songs. Khalid recently released his debut studio album, American Teen, on March 3, 2017. Khalid is sure to be a household name before the summer is over.

Born Khalid Robinson, Khalid spent his childhood in different locations due to his mother’s career in the military. In high school, Khalid found his love for singing and musicals. Khalid graduated from Americas High School after moving to El Paso, Texas for his senior year. Khalid reached the number 2 spot on Billboard Twitter Emerging Artists Chart in 2016. After “Location” began getting airplay, Khalid began appearing in various publications like Rolling Stone and Billboard as their “Artists to Watch”. Khalid’s hit single, “Location” ended the 2016 year at number 20 on Billboard’s Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart. The following year, “Location” reached the top 10 on Billboard Hot R&B Songs chart. The music video for “Location” appeared on the website The Fader, racking up over 10 million views on YouTube in just a few months.

Khalid has been very busy since finishing high school. In January 2017 Khalid was featured on Alina Baraz’s single, “Electric” which helped boost is popularity. Khalid has also been featured in songs with 2016 breakout star Alessia Cara, Logic, Calvin Harris, Future, and a few others. Khalid sold out every show on his  US “Location” Tour in February 2017 which was 21 major cities. On March 3, 2017, Khalid released his debut studio album, American Teen under RCA Records. The album peaked at number 9 on Billboard 200 and number 6 on Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. Khalid is set to perform in Philadelphia, PA for the annual Roots Picnic Festival on June 3, 2017.

Donovan Wilkins: Donovan Wilkins is a self-taught photographer and published writer. He lives in Glenside after moving from his hometown of Philadelphia. After studying Liberal Arts at CCP, he decided to focus his time on his writing and photography. In 2016, Donovan completed his first feature-length screenplay, The Coast is Clear. During his career, Donovan worked on a small budget film in Philadelphia as part of a writing team. Since then, he has written various short screenplays.
