Pop punk trio Paramore are making a stop in Oakland this summer. They will be performing at the Paramount (Hey universe, good one!) Theatre this September. The band is headlining their Tour Two summer tour alongside indie rockers Best Coast.
Paramore is one of those staple mainstream rock bands that can carry a radio station for a couple of weeks whenever they release a new single, and that’s exactly what the band has been doing as of late. The band’s recent release of their fifth studio album After Laughter which released earlier this month. Popular songs that are making their radio rounds are Rose Colored Boy, Forgiveness, Hard Times, and Told You So. Previous to that, the band came into the scene back in 2004 and had their breakthrough with the song Misery Business from their sophomore album Riot! Other big hits the band is known for are the songs That’s What You Get, crushcrushcrush, That’s What You Get, The Only Exception, Ignorance, Brick By Boring Brick, Ain’t It Fun, Still Into You, and Decode. Being a fan ever since, well, middle school, my favorites from the band aside from their mainstream hits are Looking Up, Fences, Misguided Ghosts, and Where The Lines Overlap. The band’s musical style is unique from other rocker bands as it is fronted by the amazing Hayley Williams as the centerpiece among the ever revolving members. Lyrically Paramore is “emo”, but it’s empowering, it’s fun, it’s more than a commercial pop punk band with a girl lead singer. The music and content the band is putting out isn’t centered around sexuality or trite overdone cliches. It’s youthful vibes have matured alongside the band’s loyal audience and keep bringing fantastic music our way.
This band was the girl fronted, sometimes angry, angsty band I needed as a teen and they continue to produce hits that continue to regain me as a fan. This is a band you gotta see and experience live. Satisfy the younger you and buy a ticket, you won’t regret it!
