Wavves @ The Independent 6/3

Punk rock band Wavves is making a stop in the Bay this summer. The band will be performing in San Francisco this June at the Independent. Wavves will be headlining the set with opening acts being Kino Kamino and So Stressed.

Wavves hit the market back in 2008 and are based out of my beloved hometown of San Diego. The band’s most recent work came, literally, last week with the release of their sixth studio album entitled You’re Welcome. Hit songs from that new album are Million Enemies, Daisy, No Shade, and Animal. Previous to that the band has released five other full length albums, one collab album with fellow indie rockers Cloud Nothings, and a single EP. Other popular songs the band has released include Nine if God, my favorite Green Eyes, Way Too Much, King of the Beach, Demon To Lean On, Post Acid, and No Hope Kids. The band’s musical themes of nostalgia, angst, love and heartbreak. Their lo-fi sound gives them a gritty, alternative edge that almost classifies them as surf punk.

Fans of Best Coast, Beach Fossils, and FIDLR will be down for this band, if you’re not familiar with this more indie scene this band is perfect for your introduction. Wavves is a classic California surf punk band and I guarantee you’ll find a song to rock out to somewhere in their discography.
