Hip hop duo Atmosphere is heading into the San Francisco this summer. The band will be performing at The Fillmore August 7th. This will the first show to kickoff their Welcome To California summer 2017 tour and their first of three consecutive Bay area shows. Opening for the band will be Zuluzuluu, Greg Grease, and DJ Just Nine.
Atmosphere came into the universe back in 1996, prime time 1990’s time. The band is composed of the duo of rapper Slug a.k.a Sean Daley and producer/DJ Ant a.k.a Anthony Davis. The band is based out of Minnesota. The band’s most recent work comes from last year’s album Fishing Blues, which is the band’s eighth studio album. Popular songs from that album include the tracks Ringo, Pure Evil, No Biggie, and Won’t Look Back. Previous to that the band has released seven other albums and nine EPs. Other notable songs from the duo are the band’s biggest hit Sunshine which launched the band into the mainstream back in 2007, Yesterday, The Best Day, You, Puppets, Trying To Find A Balance, and Don’t Forget. The style and themes that are a constant within Atmosphere’s music is the band’s employment and playing with allegories of classic tropes within the hip hop scene, like women, luxury, relationships, and fame.
Fans of Murs, Logic, and Living Legends will be into this band. They are classic hip hop and have that distinct style of gritty, lyric focused music. Atmosphere’s lineup for this tour is gonna be sick and the band itself? This is definitely a show to spend a little bit of money on, I promise, you won’t regret it.
