Madeleine Peyroux brings her sultry voice to City Winery September 24th and 25th. The French-American jazz artist will perform as part of a jazz trio with electric guitarist Jon Herington and bassist Barak Mori.
Peyroux started performing at age 15 and has developed a unique voice that has been compared to that of Billie Holiday. She celebrated the 20 year anniversary of the release of her debut album Dreamland last year while also releasing Secular Hymns her 8th studio album. Her seductively sexy voice helps her convey the message of her spiritual songs that she refers to as hymns. “Music has been our spiritual life so I think of these as hymns, secular hymns – songs that are very individual, personal, introverted,” she says of the tracks.
Peyroux, Herington and Mori will be in Chicago for two nights at City Winery. If you’re looking for a nice relaxing evening downtown, this is it.
