The indie rock band The National will embark on a worldwide tour this summer in support of their seventh studio album.
The band, now residing in Brooklyn and originating from Cincinnati has released six studio albums since forming in 1999. The National’s debut self-titled album was released in 2001 followed by Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers in 2003. The band gained widespread critical acclaim with the release of their third album Alligator in 2005. They went on to release Boxer (2007) and High Violet (2010) which gave them a lot of media and exposure. Their song “Lean” was included on the official soundtrack for the Hunger Games movie and they also scored a coveted musical guest spot on Saturday Night Live. Their sixth album Trouble Will Find Me (2013) was nominated for Best Alternative Album Grammy.
When The National comes to Chicago in December, they will be on their worldwide tour for their seventh studio album which is expected to drop in September. The 2017 Sleep Well Beast Tour will be in town for two days performing at Civic Opera House.
