Social Distortion @ The Fillmore 8/04

Not many hardcore rock bands can they are one of the best-selling punk rock bands of all time. Social Distortion is easily one of the most recognizable bands in the world. Since 1978, Social Distortion has continued to dominate charts with their brand of music. The band has been known for their use of multiple musicians throughout the years. Old age has now slowed down this great band, always keeping up with the constant changes in the music industry. Social Distortion is set to release a new album in early 2018.

Social Distortion rose to fame with their highly successful debut album, Mommy’s Little Monsters in 1983. After problems within the band, Social Distortion broke up for a while. The band got back to together in 1986 to release their second album, Prison Bound. Even though Prison Bound never made it to the charts, the album was still a huge hit with their hardcore fans. After the release of Prison Bound, Social Distortion signed with Epic Records. With producer Dave Jerdan, Social Distortion started working on their third self-titled album. The album was released in 1990 and their fourth album, Somewhere Between Hell and Heaven was released two years later. After the death of fellow band member Dennis Danell in 2000, Social Distortion toured non-stop for 3 years before taking a break from music.

Once back from their break, Social Distortion released their fifth album Sex, Love, and Rock ‘n’ Roll in 2004. Social Distortion would tour on and off between 2005 – 2007. Social Distortion appeared at various festivals alongside fellow bands.  The band continues to release music to the world never slowing down for one second.

Donovan Wilkins: Donovan Wilkins is a self-taught photographer and published writer. He lives in Glenside after moving from his hometown of Philadelphia. After studying Liberal Arts at CCP, he decided to focus his time on his writing and photography. In 2016, Donovan completed his first feature-length screenplay, The Coast is Clear. During his career, Donovan worked on a small budget film in Philadelphia as part of a writing team. Since then, he has written various short screenplays.
