Nana Grizol @ Thee Parkside 7/27

Indie rock band Nana Grizol is coming to San Francisco this summer. They will be playing Thee Parkside on July 27th. The band will be performing alongside bands Your Heart Breaks, Wizard Apprentice, and Squishers.

Nana Grizol has quietly become one of the best indie rock bands in the scene. The band came into conception back in 2003 when frontman Theo Hilton and company started playing together. Nana Grizol recently put out their third album Ursa Minor this year. Notable songs from that album include Mississippi Swells, Photos from When We Were Young, Bright Clouds, and Nightlights I. Other than that the two other albums the band has produced include 2008’s debut album entitled Love It Love It and 2010’s album Ruth. Other popular songs the band has released include the songs Cynicism (my personal favorite), Tambourine – N: Thyme, Atoms, Blackbox, Circles ‘Round the Moon, Everything You Ever Hope or Worked For, and Tiny Rainbows. The band’s style of music is a cool blend of indie, punk, and classic rock music. They keep it cool with their infusion of musical instruments like trumpet, clarinet, harmonica, euphonium, and all the other boring regular (psych!) instruments audiences’ accustomed to. The band’s diverse sound in terms of instrumentals is a refreshing break and takes a second for your ear to recognize the sweet sounds. Lyrically, the band is introspective, romantic (in the traditional sense!), and a little angry (in the best way!).

Fans of Defiance, Ohio, Tigers Jaw, or The Mountain Goats will be into this band. The tickets are hella cheap and are perfect for a fun date night. This band is full of talent and raw music. They keep it real and always put on a good show. So, grab a ticket and check ‘em out!
