Many thought that the fire of the Eagle’s torch would go out after the death of the lead singer, frontman and founder of the band Glenn Frey had passed on January 8, 2016. But, it was announced by former co-founder and co-lead singer of the Eagles, Don Henley, on the Dallas radio station, KTCK that the open spot will be filled.
Many wondered who could possibly replace the iconic sound of Glenn Frey. Henley revealed that the young and eager Deacon Frey, son of Glenn Frey, will continue the legacy that his father has left behind. Henley stated on the broadcast that this would be the appropriate move if the band was going to replace the figure that has made the band legendary.
The Eagles, a rock band that has been around for as long as 46 years has achieved five number-one singles, six Grammy Awards, five American Music Awards, six number one albums, two albums that were placed on the 20 best-selling albums in the United States list and an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the group has an esteemed history.
Henley explained that passing this legacy down to the closest thing to Glenn Frey is the only way he’d carry on with the band and feels the group could only go on if it were to be passed down to the next generation. Henley was confident that the work Deacon Frey has put forth to be a part of this band and his enthusiasm to keep his father’s fire burning. The Eagle’s will have a different leader, and Henley alluded to a new musician coming joining the group as well, but he’s making us wait for that revelation.
Deacon Frey will step in for the Classic East andClassic West Festivals the Eagles are set to perform at along with Fleetwood Mac at Dodgers Stadium in Los Angeles July 15-16 and at Citi Field in New York City July 15-16 and July 29-30.
