Broken Social Scene are back, premiering the title track from their upcoming album, “Hug of Thunder.” The record will be the Canadian indie pop collective’s first new album in seven years, and will feature contributions from 17 members in all. Included in this bunch are Leslie Feist (who just released a great new album as a solo artist), Charles Spearin and Ohad Benchetrit of experimental group Do Make Say Think, Amy Millan and Evan Cranley of Stars, and Emily Haines and Jimmy Shaw of Metric (who happen to be original members of BSS). This song features vocals from Feist, who offered significant contributions to the album, explaining in an interview she would not have joined on for the album if she was simply providing oos and aahs in the background.
The band previously shared “Halfway Home” from the new album.
Listen to the new track, which was premiered today on below:
As great as Broken Social Scene are on record, they are even more transcendent on the stage. Luckily, fans of the band will be able to catch them playing venues in the United Kingdom, Europe, United States and Canada. They will play festivals like Immergut Festival in Germany, Field Trip Music & Arts Festival in Toronto, ON and the inaugural Arroyo Seco Music and Arts Festival in Pasadena, CA and many more. Opening up the tour on select dates are The Belle Game and Frightened Rabbit.
