FYE and Goldenvoice Present The Flaming Lips & Klangstof at the Ace Theater, Los Angeles

The Flaming Lips’ Oczy Mlody came out earlier this year, following-up the group’s previous full-length, 2013’s The Terror. “Somewhere in the haze lurks their old knack for writing great, off-kilter pop songs that reflect and escape the bewildering world around us,” says The Guardian of the new album, while The Boston Globe has noted that, “The Lips return with a moody, industrial, and hypnotic CD that’s probably what Major Tom would be listening to, sitting in his tin can.”

Opening for the Flaming Lips was the Amsterdam-based alternative band Klangstof. They are joining both the Lips and Miike Snow on their summer tours, as well as partaking in a number of festivals including Sasquatch!, Bonnaroo and Firefly. Their debut LP, Close Eyes To Exit, came out late last year.

Klangstof just wrapped up a tour of Britain, earning praise from MTV UK, which said, “Keep your eyes open for Klangstof… who captivated London last night.” They were also recently named Best Alternative Act at the Edison Awards in Holland (the Dutch equivalent of the Grammy Awards.)

Mauricio Alvarado: I've been a concert photographer for the past 5 years. My work has been featured on various music magazines and websites. Some of the bands I've photographed are Yes, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Rob Zombie, Santana, and many more. I'm obsessed with 70's Progressive Rock music. I enjoy photographing bands that I grew up listening to. I'm also a big vinyl record collector since I was in High School. I always enjoy taking my albums to shows and getting them signed by the bands.
