Everyone’s favorite band from middle school Evanescence just announced a special treat for fans.
Frontwoman Amy Lee has announced that newest album entitled Synthesis in a video. Even though the band has been releasing new songs, this won’t be a full project of new material though. The band is going left-field with this one, instead planning to rework various tracks from previous projects and reinventing them with “a full orchestra and elements of electronica in mind.”
Lee stated that “we’re taking our music, stripping off the big distorted guitars, stripping off the rock drums and replacing it with full orchestration and a completely synthetic world of beats and sounds.” Synthesis will live up to its name, “it is a synthesis, the combination, the contrast, the synergy between the organic and synthetic, and the past and present.”
In addition to the reworked material, the project will consist of two new tracks, and the band plans to support the project with a tour, accompanied with a full orchestra, this fall. Lee stresses that the album is not simply a “remix” album but a complete reworking of original material. “It’s sort of like a soundtrack in a lot of ways, it sounds like…the soundtrack to my life.”
David Campbell, who arranged the strings for their previous albums, will have a much heavier hand in the orchestration of the new material, and will be doing several of the arrangements for the new project.
