Regardless of the rumors floating around the Twittersphere or industry realm, Tool and Perfect Circle have claimed they will not be releasing new albums in the 2017 year. A Perfect Circle took to their official Twitter account to reply to fans, inquiring about any news that pertains to upcoming music.

However, some fans are speculating that it’s just a ploy from the band members to throw off their following. So when the highly anticipated albums do drop, fans will be pleasantly surprised and somewhat blindsided by the release. Not only does Maynard James Keenan and his banmates have a track record of release teasers, he announced earlier this month that he was doing vocal work for the “upcoming Tool album.” A press release was also sent out, stating A Perfect Circle would be dropping an album for the first time in 13 years in 2017. Plus, they debuted a new song called “Feathers” at a show in Las Vegas, NV during April. While we might be getting extremely mixed signals, this information has provided fans with the little glimmer of hope they needed to remain patient.
UPDATE (5/9): In response to a tweet suggesting fans shouldn’t take the Maynard James Keenan camp at their word, the A Perfect Circle Twitter account further confirmed the “no Tool/APC albums in 2017” news. Just be patient folks – as the hashtag states, “we ALL want it.”
