Music is constant and yet ever changing. Time can sometimes be a musician’s enemy and sometimes leads to bands to fall apart. But that isn’t the case for a Japanese metal band simply named Boris. After 25 years of coming together, the band of 3 members is still going strong. They don’t seem to be slowing down at all. They are not only celebrating their 25th anniversary as a band but are also celebrating by announcing their new album, Dear.
Recently, Boris dropped their first single, “Absolutego” by releasing a music video to go along with it. The music video is in black and white and is directed by Fangsanalsatan. The song’s video is grainy and has the appearance like someone took old photographs and had them purposely underdeveloped. The band is seen performing live as the camera slowly spins around them like a merry-go-round capturing the band’s members as well as instruments and sound speakers.
Music is art which is apparent as seen in the new video by Boris. The black and white images are pieced together so coherently that it almost feels like an art show being performed live.
Boris has witnessed another anniversary in their rollercoaster career. A year ago, the band celebrated their 10th anniversary of their album, Pink by released a deluxe version with an unreleased song titled, “Are you Ready?” The album, Pink was the group’s 10th album which was considered their breakthrough work. It garnered Boris a couple of new fans and ended up on many “best of the year: lists from both underground metal websites and mainstream rock magazines.
Fans, new and old continue to share their love for the band and the band knows just what to do to make their fans happy. It is no wonder that like a shark, the band doesn’t stop moving or creating music.
Their album, Dear, will be released via Sargent House and will be available to purchase on July 12th wherever music is sold.
