Broken Social Scene Announce New Album Hug of Thunder Featuring Feist, Members of Metric and Stars for July 2017 Release

The awkwardly tacky days of 2010 are behind us but luckily Broken Social Scene is back with a vengence. The Canadian rock band just announced brand new album entitled Hug of Thunder and will be released on July 7 via City Slang/Arts & Crafts. The upcoming album will feature 12 songs, including their brand new track “Halfway Home,” which was dropped in March. Click below to check out their entire track list.

Indie pop singer Feist and members of metric and stars are featured on the album, and contributed some of her lyrical genius to its production. In an interview, Feist said “my only caveat going in was I want to actually contribute — I can’t commit if I’m just singing oohs and aahs.”

Feist and Broken Social Scene are both headliners this year for the Field Trip Festival and the Meadows festival. Plus members of BSS will be at Spiral Stairs as well. Last year the group was featured on the Electric Picnic lineup along with LCD Soundsystem and Chemical Brothers.

The band’s last album called Forgiveness Rock Record was recieved well by fans and critics alike, snagging a Juno award for best Recording Package of the Year.
