Mavericks Fight Ignorance In Newly Release Video for “Brand New Day”

In a recent released song “Brand New Day”, the Mavericks, who have performed at the Fonda Theatre, remixes politics with art, in order fight the ignorance that’s been going on in the modern day.

The video was directed by Big Feather Films and Trey Fanjoy, composed by Raul Malo and Alan Miller, and produced by Trent Hardville through Mono Mundo Recordings.

There video starts out with different people labeled as problems that are facing the U.S and the world today such as xenophobia, bigotry and hunger. Throughout the video, these problems are rising and dancing close together until their labels are being smudged. As all are being smudged away, they are replaced with words like equality, hope and unity. As these new words are coming, there is more color added and more freedom to move around. The video can be watched below.

According to Rolling Stone, frontman Raul Malo said “I know this sounds idealistic and perhaps unrealistic, but I’m not one of those guys who thinks we’re at the end of the world. But we do have to be vigilant, and if we have to protest and stand up for what we believe in, we will. I’m confident in the American people and in democracy in general. Maybe this is a wakeup call that we so need.”
